This is an almost impossible list to collate. Every bar, every list on the internet, and even different bartenders in the same bar, will have or already has a different list of the top ten mixed drinks. Even expert bartender guides and books on cocktails will have a different list of the top ten drinks. So the list below is a “meta-study” of many different sources on drinks and their popularity.
Of course the recipes for each drink are going to vary with country, region, bar or even bartender. So the below recipes are also a “meta-study” of multiple sources in an attempt come up with the “basic” recipe for each drink.
Bloody Mary: 1 oz. of vodka, 1/2 cup tomato juice, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, 1 cup ice cubes, dash of Worcestershire sauce, dash of Tabasco, pinch of salt and pepper. Put ice, vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt and pepper in drink shaker, shake well, pour into tall glass filled with ice cubes and garnish with celery stick
Classic Martini: 2 oz. of Gin, 1/4 oz of Dry Vermouth, 6 ice cubes. Put ice in mixing glass add gin and vermouth, stir or shake, strain while pouring in martini glass, garnish with green olive, white pearl onion or lemon peel. Vodka may replace gin.
Cosmopolitan: 1 oz vodka, 1/2 oz triple sec, 1/2 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz cranberry juice, 6 ice cubes. Add all ingredients to drink shaker and shake well. Strain into martini glass and garnish with lime wedge
Daiquiri: 2 oz. sugar, ½ cup shaved ice. Add all ingredients to drink shaker, shake well and strain into cocktail glass over ice cubes.
Gin and Tonic: 2 oz. gin, 5 oz tonic water, 8 ice cubes. Add ice cubes to highball glass, then Pour gin and the tonic water over the ice, stir well, garnish with a lime wedge.
Manhattan: 1 oz Scotch and ½ oz sweet vermouth, mix in martini glass.
Mojito: 1 1/2 oz. dark rum, 10 mint leaves, 1 tbsp sugar, 1/2 oz. lime juice, 2 oz soda water, 1 cup crushed ice. Put mint leaves in bottom of high ball glass, add crushed ice, pour in rum, sugar, and lime juice, and mix, then pour in soda water and garnish with additional mint leaves.
Rum and Coke: 4 oz white rum, 8 oz Coca-cola, pour in old-fashion glass over 6 ice cubes and stir.
Screwdriver: 2 oz. vodka, 6 oz. orange juice, 6 ice cubes. Add ingredients to highball glass and stir gently.
Seven and Seven: 3 oz. of Rye whiskey (Seagram’s 7) and 3 oz. lemon-lime soda (7-up) pour over 3 ice cubes in cocktail glass, and stir.
